Suspect in Charlie Kirk shooting, Tyler Robinson, 22, arrested: Trump
"I hope he gets the death penalty," U.S. president Donald Trump said.
The gunman allegedly involved in Charlie Kirk's fatal shooting has been arrested on Sep. 12 (Singapore time).
According to CNN, United States president Donald Trump confirmed the alleged shooter's identity as Tyler Robinson, 22, from Utah.
Turned in by family
"I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody," Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
His remarks came just before authorities were scheduled to brief the media on their search for the shooter who killed Kirk on Sep. 10 (U.S. time) during a public debate at Utah Valley University.
Two senior law enforcement officials said a family member recognised Robinson from released photos and reported him to police.
Trump added: "I hope he gets the death penalty."
Previously had images released
Robinson's images were previously released by the United States FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation).
Photos of Robinson wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses in a stairwell were shared on X.
A reward of up to US$100,000 (S$128,155) was offered for leads that led to his arrest.
