Man, 31, arrested within 7 hours after trying to rob man, 38, with penknife in Geylang

The police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted armed robbery.

The police were alerted to a case of attempted armed robbery along Lorong 8 Geylang on Sep. 11, 2025 at about 10:33am.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly used a penknife in an attempt to rob a 38-year-old man of his handphone.

The victim managed to flee from the man, and no valuables were taken.

The identity of the suspect was established via ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police and surveillance cameras.

The suspect was arrested within seven hours of the report.

He will be charged in court on Sep. 13, 2025 with the offence of attempted armed robbery.

The offence carries a jail term of two to seven years, and up to 12 strokes of the cane.
