The FBI released a video and new images of the person of interest allegedly involved in the Sep. 10 killing of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, 31.

The video showed the suspect jumping off a rooftop apparently post-shooting, while the stills were more photos taken from surveillance footage at a stairwell.

The new video and images were released after 10pm on Thursday (U.S. time).

Earlier photos of the suspect were released followed by an appeal to the public for information by the FBI.

More than 7,000 tips from the public

Utah governor Spencer Cox said at a 10-minute press conference that the suspect was wearing sunglasses, Converse shoes, and a “distinctive” black t-shirt with an American flag and eagle.

He added that the FBI has received more than 7,000 tips.

“We haven’t seen that many since the Boston Marathon bombing,” he added, using the weeklong manhunt for self-radicalised brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, in April 2013, as reference.

Cox added that there is "a lot of forensic evidence" being processed, and that authorities are gathering the evidence needed to "pursue the death penalty".

The FBI is offering a reward of up to US$100,000 (S$128,155) for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Kirk.
