Audi hits pedestrian, van & car in Tampines: Man, 38, arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous hurt

The car went against the flow of traffic.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on Jul. 30 after a car was caught on camera driving against the flow of traffic in Tampines that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash.

A pedestrian was also injured in the incident.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident involving a van and two cars at the junction of Tampines Avenue 5 and Tampines Central 2 at 9:30am.

The junction is near Our Tampines Hub.

The man was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous hurt.

What video showed

A video showed a white Audi hitting a pedestrian and narrowly missing others crossing the road before crashing into a van and another car.

The footage was shot from the vehicle that was struck head-on by the Audi that was travelling against the flow of traffic.

The Audi had a dented left bumper and was left stationary next to a van.

The van bore the NESS Xpress logistics company logo.

In the video, a man could be heard saying: “He’s still stuck in the car.”

Taken to hospital

A 60-year-old male pedestrian was taken conscious to Changi General Hospital.

Two other people were assessed for minor injuries, but they declined to be taken to the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
