Ambushed by ex-boyfriend in car park: Authorities
Authorities told broadcaster TVBS News that preliminary investigations showed Gu was ambushed by Liu and slashed with a knife when she was parking her motorcycle at the car park.
This was part of her routine before starting work, which Liu was said to be familiar with.
On the night of the incident, eyewitnesses said they saw Gu's body being dragged to a stairwell.
Her body was found in a pool of blood, and Liu was believed to have escaped on a motorcycle before authorities arrived.
A person posted on Threads that he called the police upon witnessing the murder, and performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the woman before the ambulance arrived.
"I was covered in blood, and in my mind I can still hear the woman's screams," he wrote in Mandarin, as quoted by Formosa TV.
Gu later passed away in hospital.
Preliminary investigations showed that she had sustained wounds to her neck, chest and abdomen, with at least four of them being fatal stab wounds, ETToday reported.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
Liu was tracked down by police and arrested at his grandfather's home in Wujie, Yilan province shortly after midnight on Jul. 31.
Had a personal protection order against him
Previously, Gu and Liu worked together in a nightclub and also rented a house together in Xinyi.
After a dispute in May, Gu saw a doctor for injuries allegedly inflicted by Liu.
Subsequently, Gu lodged a domestic violence report against Liu with the police and also applied for a personal protection order against him.
After their breakup, Gu alleged on Threads that despite her attempts to avoid him, Liu continued to harass her at her home and workplace, and damaged her belongings, United Daily News reported.
The protection order was issued one week before Gu's death.
Liu was instructed to stop harassing Gu.
