Yvonne Lim tears up at Star Awards as she thanks mother who passed away when actress was 13
Heartfelt.

Yvonne Lim, 48, received the All-Time Favourite Artiste award, along with Pornsak, on Jul. 6, 2025 after being voted into the Top 10 Most Popular Artistes register 10 times.
She brought along her family to the awards, and thanked them on stage, saying she loves them for everything they've done for her.
She recently moved back to Singapore from Taiwan with her family. Her husband is former Taiwanese boy band member Alex Tien.
In an end to her heartfelt speech, she had this to say about what it means to be remembered.
Saying she doesn't believe that fame was what allows someone to be remembered, but it was putting your heart into something that allows one to be remembered.
She continued that the most important prize is not the award in your hand, but the impact you make on someone.
Lim also took the time to thank the person who impacted her the most, and the person she was most thankful for.
Lim credited her late mother as the person who had impacted her the most, and the person she has missed the most for 35 years.
While receiving her award, she looked up and asked her mother if she's watching, adding that she loves her.
During a backstage interview, Lim also talked about how much she wanted to thank her late mother on stage.
She explained that it's her mother who made her who she is today.
To relate
In an interview with CNA before the awards, Lim talked a bit about why she was seen as so relatable by her fans.
They noted that Lim had been out of the spotlight for quite a while, and in an industry where the next big thing is right behind the next big thing, longevity is quite a rare commodity, especially if you're not always in the spotlight.
Lim made mention of something she would touch on during her speech tonight as well.
She said popularity was not about fame or being or TV, but just that "people can relate to you, and they want to be with you and around you."
