A Malaysian preacher has been arrested for distributing intimate videos of his four wives.

Bernama reports that the unnamed preacher’s second wife lodged a police report on Jun. 16, alleging that the preacher was sharing sex videos of her and his other wives.

Shah Alam district police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement on Jul. 5 that the preacher had subsequently been arrested.

The New Straits Times reported that the police had seized two mobile phones and a laptop.

A search of the mobile phones was conducted, revealing that he had kept several such videos on his phone, along with pictures of other women that were explicit in nature.

The preacher was remanded in custody for four days but had been given police bail while the police completed their investigations.

Malaysian police are appealing to the public for more information.

MalaysiaKini reports that the preacher, whom it described as "freelance", faced a possible penalty of up to RM50,000 (S$15,o59), and one year in jail, or both.

The Malay Mail subsequently reported that the Selangor Islamic Religious Council had revoked the preacher’s teaching credentials in 2022.

The same individual had been previously detained by the Selangor religious Department in 2024 for teaching without valid credentials.
