Liverpool FC to give Diogo Jota's family remainder of his contract as show of support
You'll never walk alone.

Liverpool Football Club is reportedly giving the family of Diogo Jota the remainder of his salary.
Never walk alone
Jota, along with his brother Andre Silva in Spain, was killed on Jul. 3 when the tire of the Lamborghini sports car they were driving blew out, causing the car to crash.
Jota leaves behind his new wife and three children, having gotten married only a fortnight earlier.
Liverpool FC will reportedly pay Jota’s wages for the remainder of his contract.
Jota is believed to be earning ÂŁ140,000 (S$243,572) a week, with about two years remaining on his contract, according to the Express.
Portuguese media outlet Record reported that the remaining wages will be paid to Jota’s family in a gesture of support to them.
The striker had joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and has since made 182 appearances for the club, scoring 65 goals, and has also won two Premier League titles along the way.
Jota’s stint at the club was successful enough that he was offered a contract extension in 2022, which would have kept him at the club until 2027.
The Express quoted Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who echoed the English club’s motto, vowing that Jota’s family would “never walk alone”.
According to the club’s website, Liverpool also intends to “immortalise” Jota’s number 20 shirt for his contributions to the club’s 20th Premier League title.
Jota and Silva’s funeral was a well-attended affair, with Liverpool and national team teammates alike making their way to Gondomar in Portugal to pay their final respects.
