Chinese woman caught smuggling mobile phones abandons baby to try & escape police
Together with her accomplice, another man, they were caught smuggling 102 used mobile phones by strapping them to their bodies.

A man and a woman were caught trying to smuggle 102 used mobile phones into Zhuhai, China, by strapping the devices to their body.
The incident took place at Gongbei Port, an immigration and customs checkpoint, Sing Tao Daily reported.
The man and the woman entered Zhuhai at around 8:28am on Tuesday, Jul. 1.
They were pushing a baby stroller through the customs green channel of the Gongbei Port passenger inspection hall.
When custom officers inspected the two passengers, the woman abandoned her baby in an attempt to run away, but was quickly intercepted by custom officers.
102 mobile phones found
The man and the woman were found with a large number of old mobile phones tied with plastic film on their legs, waist, abdomen, and chest.

After counting, the man was found with 48 old mobile phones on him while the woman had 54, totalling to 102 mobile phones.
After verification, it was discovered that the child in the stroller was the woman's biological child.
The man and the woman are not husband and wife, but teamed up to evade custom inspection together.
According to Chinese customs regulations, anyone evading supervision by hiding and bringing taxable items into the country is considered to have committed smuggling.
If the circumstances are serious and constitute a crime, the offender will be held criminally liable in accordance to the law.
