Man allegedly splashed 'urine' at woman's Punggol home door after she didn't reply to his greetings & 'love letters'
The woman said she had lodged a police report.
A 46-year-old woman was recovering from her illness at her home in Punggol on Mar. 28 when she apparently noticed "a urine smell".
When she checked the footage from the CCTV camera installed at her flat's door, she realised that it was her male neighbour who splashed a cup of yellow liquid at her door, reported Shin Min Daily News.
According to the woman, her male neighbour had allegedly greeted her at the elevator, stared at her door from his unit, and sent two "love letters" to her doorstep previously.
As her boyfriend had been coming over to her flat often since they started dating six months ago, the woman surmised that her male neighbour poured the liquid "out of jealousy".
When approached by Shin Min, the male neighbour reportedly said he was "deeply remorseful" about his actions and that he "did not know why he had done so".
He also denied that he was motivated by jealousy, adding that he was willing to apologise to the woman and make compensation.
Woman's account of what happened
According to Shin Min, the incident occurred at a public housing block at Sumang Walk.
The woman, who spoke to the Chinese daily on condition of anonymity, shared that her male neighbour moved into a unit upstairs five years ago.
"Initially, he would greet me in the elevator, and I did not respond. Later on, I saw him standing next to his window in his flat and staring at my unit's door. Thereafter, he printed out two 'love letters' and placed them at my doorstep," the woman alleged.
To support her claims, the woman also showed one of the letters to Shin Min.
The letter, which was written in Mandarin and English, read:
"Please read 😊
Hello. My name is (redacted). You can call me (redacted). This morning, we met in the elevator at around 9am. I was the one standing behind you, holding a food container (as shown below). I live at (redacted). Can I learn more about you? My handphone is (redacted).
Take care and have a good day!
See you again 😊"

As the woman used to live alone in the flat, she claimed that she did not dare to reject the man outright and decided to endure the unwanted attention "for years" to avoid enraging him.
Man's deeds caught on CCTV camera
On Mar. 28, half an hour after the man splashed liquid at her door, the woman claimed that he returned to her flat in another outfit to clean up the liquid, reported Shin Min.
To support her claims, she also provided footage of the man's deeds to the Chinese daily.
In the clip, the man, dressed in black, could be seen holding a transparent plastic cup with yellow liquid before throwing it at the woman's door.
He then turned around and dashed towards the staircase, according to the footage.
Later on, the man could be seen returning to the woman's unit while dressed in a white t-shirt and a face mask.
He then squatted down and wiped the woman's door with a towel he was carrying in his hand.

Woman 'lives in anxiety every day'
Despite the man's attempt to clean up her door area, the woman accused him of causing her unit's wall, door, and floor to be tainted with "urine stains", reported Shin Min.
She lamented that she had to spend almost the entire day cleaning the stains, and she lodged a police report on Mar. 28.
Following the incident, the woman said she would check her surroundings before leaving and returning to her home every day.

She also claimed that she had placed a draft stopper beneath her door.
Her boyfriend would also come over to her flat and accompany her, she added.
"Initially, I planned on living here for the long run. With the current circumstances, I am even considering whether or not I should sell the flat and move away," lamented the woman.
Man apologised
When Shin Min reporters visited the man's unit on Jun. 7, he apparently did not want to admit any wrongdoing and appeared agitated.
After the reporters showed him the CCTV footage from the woman's unit, the man was reportedly stunned and immediately closed his unit's door.
When the reporters proceeded to ask other residents about the matter, the man apparently opened his door suddenly and claimed that his mother was "deeply ill".
"It just happens that sometimes, people would do something. Looking back, I am deeply remorseful and did not know why I had done that," Shin Min reported the man as saying.
When the reporters asked him whether he splashed the liquid because he was rejected, the man apparently denied it, adding that his feelings for the woman had already been "a thing of the past".
He also told the reporters that he was willing to apologise to the woman and compensate her before promising that he would never repeat his actions.
