Man, 28, who worked at National Dental Centre, allegedly took photos of 25 patients’ breasts
He was slapped with a litany of charges.
A former National Dental Centre of Singapore (NDCS) employee was charged in court on Jun. 13 for allegedly taking photos of 25 patients' breasts over a span of more than two years, CNA and The Straits Times reported.
Elgin Ng, 28, a Singaporean, was handed 30 charges, including 25 charges of voyeurism.
He had allegedly taken "top-down and bottom-up" photographs of the women's breasts without permission or them knowing about it from March 2022 to April 2024.
Court documents did not state how he did it.
The identities of the women are protected by a gag order.
What he allegedly did
In 2022 and 2023, Ng allegedly downloaded the photos of 42 patients from a system on a NDCS-owned computer.
He was handed two charges under the Computer Misuse Act.
In 2023 and 2024, he also allegedly accessed the personal details of 18 patients from the electronic dental records system.
For this, he was handed two charges under the Computer Misuse Act.
And on at least two occasions between May and June 2024, Ng also allegedly sent the voyeuristic images to a man, and was handed a charge for distributing voyeuristic images.
NDCS said Ng is no longer under its employment and conducted internal investigations and lodged a police report when the matter was brought to its attention.
Ng did not indicate a plea of guilt.
He will be back in court on Jul. 8.
For voyeurism, he can be jailed up to two years, or fined, or caned, or any combination of the penalties.
For distributing voyeuristic images, he can be jailed up to five years, or fined, or caned, or any combination of the penalties.
For accessing data without authority, he can be fined up to S$5,000 or jailed up to two years, or both.
