A fraudulent Facebook account impersonating Mothership (that's right, us) has been making its rounds online, posting scam content disguised as legitimate promotions.

On Jun. 3, a post by the fake account advertised a “75% discount” for a Casio G-Shock watch.

The post has since been taken down.

Product forcibly sent, cash demanded

A reader, Lim, informed us that after expressing interest via a link in the fake post, he was sent the product without any further confirmation or consent.

The fake vendor then demanded Cash on Delivery (COD).

Suspicious of the circumstances and already intending to withdraw his interest, Lim thankfully did not pay.

However, although he rejected the delivery multiple times via Ninja Van, the store continued to attempt redelivery.

Fake Casio and G-shock store

After checking with Casio Singapore’s official customer service, Lim was informed that he had indeed expressed interest in a fraudulent or unauthorised promotion that was not affiliated with Casio or its official channels.

We don't sell watches

After Lim alerted us to the matter, we confirmed that the promotional post was not actually from Mothership.

We also advised Lim to file a police report if the unwanted deliveries persist.

While the page has since been taken down, Mothership will continue to work with the relevant authorities to report and remove any other impersonation accounts.

Members of the public should verify the authenticity of pages and links claiming to be affiliated with us before making any purchases.
