A woman in Shandong, China, was allegedly attacked by a man with a high-pressure water gun on Jun. 7, 2025.
The pressure from the water gun spray apparently caused severe injuries to her right eye, including blindness.
The incident occurred at the Qilu Songshan Canyon Rafting Attraction located in Linqu County, Weifang City.
Dragged, shot in the eye
The woman said she was rafting with her friends when she stopped by the shore to make a purchase.
While there, she was dragged to the shore by a group of people, Sin Chew Daily reported.
She was apparently pushed down with force and made to squat, before a man aimed a high-pressure water gun at her eyes.
She said that the water stream made her face and back hurt.
She added that despite her pleading the man to stop, he aimed the gun at her eyes again.
She claimed that the distance between the gun and her eyes was about less than half a metre; the pressure then caused her right eye to go blind instantly.
She called the police.
The man reportedly insulted and threatened her, before fleeing the scene.
The woman was later treated at a hospital for "traumatic hyphema".
A doctor told media that the inside of the woman's eyeball had turned into a "pool of blood".
Investigations ongoing
Authorities in China are reportedly looking into the incident.
They have contacted the man involved, who apparently did not leave the scene after the incident occurred.
The motive for the alleged attack was not known.
According to Sin Chew, the man involved was a tourist.
Authorities are also urging scenic spots to strengthen management of dangerous equipment such as high-pressure water guns.
