Chinese woman has to remove make-up after airport facial recognition scan fails to recognise her
Oh dear.
A woman was apparently forced to remove her make-up after she failed to get past facial recognition scanners at a Shanghai airport.
In a video that has gone viral on Chinese social media, the woman was seen scrubbing at her face with a make-up wipe while her friend admonished her.
"Wipe it off until you look like your ID photo," the friend could be heard saying.
"Why would you go out and put on so much make-up?"
According to the woman's boarding pass, the incident likely took place last September.

Response
In response, some users in the comments section called out her friend for "ridiculing" her.
"Poor girl should not be laughed at...[it's] not nice and not funny," one said.
Others pointed out that makeup should not be able to change the way a person's facial features are rendered, and wondered if the airport's system was outdated.
"Maybe the system needs to be upgraded," one commented.
