Man collapses at Little India MRT platform, first aiders take turns to do CPR

After a man collapsed at the platform of Little India MRT station on May 9, first aiders took turns to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him.
The man was subsequently taken to hospital by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics.
SCDF told Mothership that on May 9 at about 5:10pm, it received a call for assistance at 60 Bukit Timah Road. This is the same address as Little India MRT station.
Collapsed at platform
The scene was filmed by a TikTok user, who said he saw it while on the way home from work.
A man was lying on the ground next to the platform doors, while a woman in a black shirt performed CPR on him.
A few commuters and SBS Transit station staff were gathered around him, with some wearing gloves.
The user wrote in the caption that first aiders took turns to perform CPR on the man before paramedics arrived.
SCDF said that the man was subsequently conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

In response to Mothership's enquiries, Grace Wu, SBS Transit spokesperson, said that SBS Transit frontline staff undergo comprehensive training to ensure they are equipped to assist passengers effectively and professionally.
“This includes equipping them with life-saving skills such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), enabling them to respond promptly in a medical emergency,” Wu explained.
