I went for a glamping fine dining experience under the stars above Orchard Road & it was unforgettable

What comes to mind when you think of glamping?

Likely not a fine dining experience in a private garden under the stars in the middle of Orchard Road, I'll bet.

The Glamp and Gourmet experience, which comes with a curated fine dining menu and live music, is part of an exclusive lucky draw giveaway by Shaw Centre.

So when I was offered a chance to try it out together with my wife, we were both excited, to say the least.

The vibes

Tucked away at Level 8 of Shaw Centre, the Shaw Garden venue boasts scenic views of Orchard Road.

As we walked in, my wife and I were greeted by waiters, who offered us a refreshing welcome drink.

We quickly made ourselves comfortable, lounging on two picnic chairs in the cosy and spacious tents.

The tents are handily equipped with portable air-conditioning units — perfect in Singapore's muggy weather.

With abundant fairy lights, warmly-lit electric candles and little touches of greenery livening up the space, the vibes are immaculate.

The food

Our table also came with a delicious charcuterie bowl and a bottle of Chardonnay (for guests who RSVP-ed).

Servers regularly stopped by our tent to offer drink refills at our pleasure.

Outside, a local singer-songwriter, Dawn Yap was getting ready for this evening's entertainment.

To submit our song requests, we scanned a QR code provided on the menu.

As she serenaded us with Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You" and Adele's "Make You Feel My Love", the food arrived.

Our three-course meal consisted of an appetiser of Capri salad seasoned with truffle vinegar and topped with mozzarella balls, a chicken fillet in herb and orange brine with au poivre sauce and vegetables, and for dessert, a vanilla panna cotta with fruits.

Soon, the sun went down, and with the music playing, my wife and I got lost in the moment.

Those in other tents were doing the same. It was a calming oasis on a Friday evening.

Serenaded in our tent

Soon, it was the highlight of our evening — the live tent visits.

Dawn, the singer, came over to our tent to serenade us while we enjoyed our meal.

Having discussed this earlier, my wife and I decided on the song choice of "Lover" by Taylor Swift.

The performance was tender, intimate, and beautiful — a special experience.

The performance also brought us back to our wedding day, as that was the song we walked back down the aisle to.

It was the perfect end to a romantic evening.

How to join the lucky draw

Want to enjoy a one-night only, exclusive Glamp and Gourmet dining experience on Jun. 27?

To take part in the lucky draw, spend a minimum of S$380 across up to two same-day receipts, with at least one from Shaw Centre.

Shoppers will need to upload their receipts along with their details to the website by Jun. 20, 2025 to stand a chance to win.

Winners will be contacted via email by Jun. 24.

The Glamp and Gourmet experience lasts for two hours, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Jun. 27.

Shaw Garden is also open for private bookings.
