The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will conduct a series of social experiments to better understand Singaporeans' response to terror threats.

These involve planned "scenarios" in the heartlands, which will take place from early to mid-June.

Actors and realistic props will be engaged in these social experiments. Authorities will also be on standby to keep the public safe during the exercises.

The events will be executed with "careful oversight", to minimise inconvenience and ensure safety of the public, MHA said.

"Members of the public are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly."

Will be filmed

The social experiments will also be filmed.

Footage of public reactions will be used in an educational web series to raise awareness on key SGSecure advisories, like "Run, Hide, Tell".

Consent will be sought from members of the public before the footage is used, MHA clarified.

The first episode of this web series, as well as the results of the social experiments, will be released on Jul. 30.
