Counting of votes cast by overseas voters must be conducted no earlier than 10 days after Polling Day to allow sufficient time for the overseas votes to reach Singapore.

A pre-count examination of postal voting papers is first conducted to sieve out votes that cannot be counted, such as torn envelopes or votes that are posted on or after Polling Day.

Rules relating to the rejection of overseas votes are generally the same as those for votes cast locally.

A recount of overseas votes may take place under these conditions.
