The Walt Disney Company announced that it will open a new theme park and resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Disney shared on May 7 that it would collaborate with Miral, Abu Dhabi's creator of immersive destinations and experiences, to create the new theme park.
The seventh Disney theme park resort will be located on Yas Island and will feature Disney's iconic stories, characters and attractions.
Miral will fully develop and build the resort, while Disney and its Imagineers will lead the creative design and operational oversight.

"What we are creating with Disney in Abu Dhabi is a whole new world of imagination — an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world, creating magical moments and memories that families will treasure forever," said the Chairman of Miral.
"As our seventh theme park destination, it will rise from this land in spectacular fashion, blending contemporary architecture with cutting edge technology to offer guests deeply immersive entertainment experiences in unique and modern ways. Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati – an oasis of extraordinary Disney entertainment at this crossroads of the world that will bring to life our timeless characters and stories in many new ways and will become a source of joy and inspiration for the people of this vast region to enjoy for generations to come," said Disney's CEO Robert Iger.
Chairman of Disney Experiences Josh D'Amaro said the new resort in Abu Dhabi will be the company's most advanced and interactive destination.
While there is no estimated date for the new park, Disney said it will offer its signature entertainment, themed accommodations, dining, and retail experiences in a way that celebrates both Disney's heritage and the "futuristic and cultural essence of Abu Dhabi."
