152 motorcyclists caught at Tuas Checkpoint, some found riding without licence
More than 350 motorcyclists were stopped for checks.
More than 350 motorcyclists were stopped for checks at Tuas Checkpoint on Apr. 14 and a total of 152 of them were caught for offences, including riding without a licence and excessive vehicular noise emissions.
The joint effort was carried out by the Traffic Police, National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Among those stopped for checks, 30 individuals, aged between 21 and 50, were found driving without a valid driving licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage, the police said in a statement on Apr. 20.
NEA issued 86 summonses for offences involving vehicular smoke and excessive noise emissions that can result in a fine of up to S$2,000.

LTA issued 36 summonses for the offence of displaying an improper licence plate, which is punishable with a fine of up to S$1,000, a jail term of up to three months, or both.
The police said all motorists, including those driving and riding foreign-registered vehicles, must comply with Singapore’s traffic laws and vehicle regulations.
Non-compliant motorists may face penalties.
Foreign-registered vehicles may be denied entry into Singapore.
The offence of driving without a valid licence is punishable with a fine of up to S$10,000, a jail term of up to three years, or both.
Those convicted of using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage face a fine of up to S$1,000, or jail of up to three months, or both.
