GE2025: Ong Ye Kung announces likely Sembawang PAP team in video, Lim Wee Kiak absent
Sembawang team.
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung released a video on Apr. 21 of what is likely the People's Action Party (PAP) candidate line-up for Sembawang GRC.
"5 individuals, 1 team. A Sembawang for Everyone," the video was captioned.
While the video did not explicitly say that they would be fielded, a spokesperson told Mothership that this is the party's line-up of candidates for the constituency.
The individuals featured in the video were Ong, Vikram Nair and Mariam Jaafar, and new faces Ng Shi Xuan and Gabriel Lam.
Lim Wee Kiak, who Ong previously paid tribute to but stopped short of confirming his step down, was absent in the line-up.
New and old faces
In the video, Ng — a 35-year-old battery company director — said:
"You don't know me. But I fight hard for the community."
Meanwhile, Lam, the 42-year-old chief operating executive of a local moving company, introduced himself as such:
"I push hard to uplift the lives of others."
Previously, Ong described the pair as a "dynamic duo".
The team will likely face off against the National Solidarity Party and the Singapore Democratic Party, both of whom have staked their claim in the GRC.
