Did your car licence plate float away during the flash floods on Apr. 20?

Good news: A bunch of them have been found and gathered at one place at Gilstead Road to be retrieved.

Gilstead Road is flanked by Dunearn Road and Newton Road in lower central Singapore.

Driver lost his licence plate & retraced his route

A driver who encountered the flash floods realised late at night that his car plate had gone missing.

He retraced his route and figured that he had likely lost it while driving through "knee-high water" along Gilstead Road towards Dunearn Road at around 5pm earlier on Easter Sunday.

He returned to the area, and to his surprise, found that several car plates had been gathered and placed neatly along the pavement.

He took a photo of the car plates and later shared his encounter on Facebook.

Lost plates

The licence plates could have come loose when submerged underwater as the screws were loose, or the licence plates were not secured snugly in the frames.

One licence plate with the "SHA" prefix belongs to a taxi.

Another with the "SDB" prefix is recognised as a registration plate that has been used for a while now as it was first registered in March 2000.

According to the Meteorological Services Singapore (MSS) report on the second half of April, inter-monsoon conditions are expected to continue.

In the next two weeks, there might be short-duration thundery showers on most days over parts of the island.

Occasionally, these thundery showers might extend into the evening.

Sumatra squalls are also forecast on a few days, during which there will be widespread thundery showers and gusty winds in the mornings.
