Estranged
The couple had already been in a strained relationship, having separated for a while after the man reportedly suspected his wife of infidelity.
He had recently reached out in an attempt to reconcile during the Thai New Year holidays.
However, their arguments continued despite the reunion.
The man was an active-duty soldier stationed at a nearby military camp.
The last fight
On the day of the alleged shooting, the man had gone out to drink with his friends and asked his wife to pick him up when he was done.
But she refused, saying she needed to stay home with their child.
The man was allegedly riled by this.
His friend took him home as a result, and another heated argument broke out between the couple when he got back.
The man then allegedly turned off the lights and drew a firearm.
His younger sister, who was staying for the holidays, tried to remove the gun from him, but she was unsuccessful.
He then fired a single shot at his wife.
Their child was allegedly present when it happened.
A spent shell casing was recovered from a shelf above the bed.
