GE2025: Tan Cheng Bock, Leong Mun Wai, Hazel Poa to contest West Coast-Jurong West GRC

The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) has unveiled its line-up of candidates for West Coast-Jurong West GRC.

They are party chairman Tan Cheng Bock, former Non-Constituency Members of Parliament Leong Mun Wai and Hazel Poa, and two others, Sumarleki Amjah and Sani Ismail.

Sumarleki is the Head of Processed Business & Business Development covering Southeast Asia & the Middle East at a multinational food and beverage company.

Sani is the Managing Director & Legal Counsel of a condominium management firm, and read Law at Thames Valley University in the UK.

The team was announced by Tan at a walkabout in Taman Jurong on Apr. 20.

West Coast-Jurong West GRC

The party did its first walkabout at Taman Jurong on Mar. 16, expressing its intention to contest in the newly formed West Coast-Jurong GRC in the upcoming general election.

The new constituency was formed after the dissolution of the West Coast GRC following the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC)'s report published on Mar. 11.

Taman Jurong, previously part of Jurong GRC, was a People's Action Party (PAP) stronghold held by then Senior Minister Tharman since 2001, until he resigned to run for president in 2023.

Following the EBRC's report, Taman Jurong was moved into the new West Coast-Jurong West GRC.

Tan had served for 26 years as a People's Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament (MP) in the Ayer Rajah constituency, which has now been absorbed in the West Coast- Jurong West GRC.

PSP will be contesting against the PAP team comprising of Desmond Lee, Shawn Huang, Ang Wei Neng, Cassandra Lee, and Hamid Razak in the West Coast-Jurong West GRC.

PAP won West Coast GRC in the 2020 election, receiving 51.68 per cent of the votes.
