Leon Perera, former Workers' Party (WP) Member of Parliament, caused a stir when he recently appeared at the headquarters of the Progress Singapore Party (PSP).
Perera, who resigned from the WP after the public revelation of a past extramarital affair, found work in New York City.
His presence in Singapore, and with the PSP, fuelled speculation that he could be fielded as a candidate for the PSP in the upcoming general election.
But at an event on Apr. 17, PSP chairman Tan Cheng Bock confirmed that Perera would not be standing under the PSP banner for the election.
Speaking at Bishan North Shopping Mall, Tan said, "I could let you guess, but I won't be so bad. He is not standing with us. He is not a candidate. I'll be very honest and frank with you."
