The Cathay at Dhoby Ghaut to reopen soon after almost 2 years

The Cathay at Dhoby Ghaut will reopen its doors soon, after nearly two years of renovations.

In a Facebook reel published Mar. 19, Cathay Malls teased a comeback.

The mall is expected to reopen by April.

When Mothership went down on Mar. 20, it was still not open, but it had some brand-new storefronts.

Chinese lifestyle retailer Miniso, Japanese F&B chain Yakiniku Like, and Indonesian coffee shop Fore Coffee were among its new offerings.

Exciting.

Closed for renovation

The Handy Road mall closed in August 2023 for redevelopment works — its first major revamp since 2003.

It was targeted to open before Christmas 2024.

But the works apparently took a little longer in the end.

The revamp was part of a "planned facelift of Dhoby Ghaut" and the vicinity, a spokesperson said at the time.
