PUB says flooded car park video circulating on social media from 2024
Don't believe everything you see online.

PUB has debunked a video circulating on social media that shows a flooded car park in Singapore.
This comes after the second day of continuous rain fell on Singapore due to the monsoon surge.
In a Facebook post on Mar. 20, PUB stated that it is aware of old videos circulating on social media showing past flooding in Singapore.
One particular video that has resurfaced was from 2024.
In May 2024, the basement car park at Balmoral Crescent was flooded due to a faulty valve in the basement's sprinkler.
PUB wrote:
"We urge members of the public to avoid sharing past videos of flooding without first verifying their authenticity and timing, to avoid causing confusion or unnecessary alarm during this period."
The old video
The old video, posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page in 2024, showed a person waddling through a basement car park that was partially submerged in water.
The water appeared knee-high.
PUB clarified that the flooding incident in a basement car park at The Twins at 6 Balmoral Crescent on May 4, 2024 morning was caused by a faulty valve in the basement’s sprinkler storage tank.
Monsoon surge
Meteorological Service Singapore said in a Mar. 17 media advisory that a surge of north-easterly winds, also known as a monsoon surge, is expected to form over the South China Sea between Mar. 19 and 21, 2025.
Rain has been falling over the island since the morning of Mar. 19.
At 10:02am on Mar. 20, temperatures in Tuas South fell to 21.9°C.
The west side of Singapore registered temperatures slightly lower than the east at the time.
Temperatures in Newton fell to 22.4°C.
