NSFs to get up to S$75 increase in monthly allowance from Jul. 1, recruits to get S$790
All NSmen will receive a S$35 to S$75 increase in their monthly NS allowance.
All national servicemen (NSF) in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF), and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will receive a S$35 to S$75 increase in their monthly NS allowance from Jul. 1, 2025.
This works out to a four to five per cent increase for most NSFs.
The current NS allowance for a recruit being S$755 a month.
With the new revision, a recruit or trainee will receive a monthly NS allowance of S$790, after an increase of S$35.
Meanwhile, those holding the rank of Lieutenant or Inspector will receive S$1,530, up from the current S$1,455, after an increase of S$75.
This was announced by Senior Minister of State for Defence Heng Chee How during his Committee of Supply (COS) speech in parliament on Mar. 3.
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said the NS allowance supports NSFs’ upkeep, and is reviewed and adjusted periodically to ensure that it remains adequate.
After the revision of the allowances, an SAF NSF Naval Diver, SPF NSF Police Tactical Trooper or SCDF NSF firefighter holding the rank of Corporal will receive a monthly NS allowance of S$1,290, up from the current S$1,250.
Details regarding current and revised monthly NS allowances can be found in the table below:
The monthly NS allowance figures reflected above include a minimum monthly vocation allowance of $75. Additional vocation allowance is paid to national servicemen in selected vocations. Details can be accessed on the CMPB website here.
The revised allowance is the fourth adjustment over the last ten years, with the previous increase being in July 2023 when allowances were increased by S$125 to S$200 depending on the serviceman’s rank and vocation.
