New CMPB to open mid-2025 with public amenities like food court, cafe, running path & soccer field
The new CMPB is part of Singapore's efforts to improve the "National Service experience" and administrative efficiency.
The new Central Manpower Base (CMPB), located opposite Cashew MRT, will have a food court that operates in the evenings and on weekends, which members of the public can patronise.
Speaking at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) Committee of Supply debate in parliament on Mar. 3, Senior Minister of State Heng Chee How shared that the new CMPB would open progressively from mid-2025.
The new CMPB is intended to also function as a community space, and members of the public will have access to amenities like a childcare centre, a cafe, and exercise facilities like an outdoor running path, fitness zone, and soccer field.
The new CMPB was announced in 2024 as part of Singapore's efforts to improve the "National Service experience" and administrative efficiency.
Serving NSmen and pre-enlistees
The new CMPB will be an integrated one-stop service that consolidates various National Service (NS) administrative needs, such as medical screenings, attending NS fitness activities at the all-weather Fitness Conditioning Centre (FCC), and purchasing NS necessities.
The new CMPB will also consolidate key healthcare facilities in one location, in a Regional Health Hub (RHH) that will be the second of its kind.
The first RHH was launched in Kranji Camp III, and MINDEF said in 2023 that a total of six RHHs would be established across Singapore.
This hub, Heng said, would allow a pre-enlistee with a pre-existing medical condition to complete his medical assessments in a single visit with specialist appointments scheduled on the same day, instead of having to visit multiple locations.
It will also feature an improved queue management system to reduce waiting times.
The hub is expected to serve around 200 servicemen daily.
