Two of Singapore's top badminton players, Yeo Jia Min and Loh Kean Yew, have advanced to the finals of the 2025 German Open in a surprising double victory.

Competing at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Mulheim, Germany, Yeo, who is world number 13, beat Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt 21-19, 22-20 after a 45-minute bout.

This was Yeo's first win in over ten years against Blichfeldt, who is world number 23.

Next up, Yeo will face Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh, who is currently world number 29, on Mar. 2.

At stake is Yeo's first BWF World Tour title since 2019 during the Super 100 Hyderabad Open.

Loh v Axelsen

Meanwhile, Loh beat Koo Takahashi from Japan 21-13, 21-14 after a 46-minute bout. Koo is world number 44.

Loh, world number 15, is set to face off against two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen on Mar. 2.

This is Loh's first tournament final since winning the Super 300 Spain Masters last year.

Loh previously faced off against Axelsen at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and lost.

However, he beat Axelsen at the 2022 Denmark Open.
