M'sian boy who crawls to school with slippers on hands receives custom walkers from donors

A 5-year-old Malaysian boy who went viral for crawling to school with slippers on his hands has received custom-made walkers from donors.

Muhammad Shairid Hadif Ridhuan Shah was born with underdeveloped knees and calves due to a condition known as caudal regression syndrome (CRS).

On Feb. 17, Shairid’s mother, 38-year-old Siti Azah, shared a video of the 5-year-old crawling on the ground with slippers on his hands on his first day of school.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, amassing over 3.1 million views since it was uploaded, with many asking how they could help and donate to the boy.

On Mar. 1, Siti shared a video of Shairid walking with the help of his new walker.

In the caption of the video, Siti said that she has received two custom-made walkers from kind donors and is waiting to receive another walker from a donor.

One donor told Malaysian media mStar that he made a custom-made walker from scratch after learning from a YouTube video.

"I cannot help financially, but I can help with my abilities and skills," said former Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel Muhammad Idrus.

Expressing her gratitude on TikTok, Siti wrote: "Thank you to everyone who has donated, whether in the form of money, toys, clothes, or even walkers."

"I cannot repay the kindness we have received, except to pray for your burdens to be eased, for abundance of your sustenance, and for good health."
