'Be kind & considerate': Halimah Yacob on picture of single mother delivering food, shares struggles faced by own mother
Halimah's father passed away when she was eight.

Former president Halimah Yacob shared a picture of a Grab delivery rider that had the caption "salute to all single mothers" in the screenshot.
The photo in question, originally posted by the Singapore Private Hire Car Drivers & Riders Community Facebook group, showed a GrabFood rider with a notice pasted onto the back of her delivery bag.
The notice urged other motorists to "pls be careful while driving" as the rider is a single mother.
Halimah reposted the photo on Facebook, and shared that her late mother was a single mother too.
Her father passed away when she was eight.
In the caption, Halimah recalled her mother's "struggles to put food on the table".
She called for people to be kind and considerate, and to put themselves in the shoes of others.
Mother passed away in 2015
In another Facebook post, Halimah described her mother as having "assumed the role of both parents" after her father died.
Halimah's mother, Maimun Abdullah, passed away in 2015 at the age of 90.
"This is the saddest moment of my life. My mother was largely responsible for making me who I am today," The Straits Times previously reported Halimah as saying.
