A portion of an overhanging exhaust duct at a loading bay carpark in Marina Bay Sands (MBS) collapsed onto the ground on Mar. 24, almost striking a person walking by.

In response to Mothership's queries, a spokesperson from MBS confirmed that there was no injury.

The duct will also be removed following the incident.

Suddenly collapses, almost hits person walking past

A video of the incident shared by Sgfollowsall on Instagram on Mar. 24 captured the moment the large exhaust duct suddenly detached from its overhead support and crashed to the ground.

Just seconds before the collapse, a person could be seen walking beneath the structure, unaware of the imminent danger.

The individual narrowly escaped injury, as the heavy duct slammed onto the floor just behind them.

The footage, filmed from a slightly elevated perspective, appears to show an area designated for service and logistics operations.

Following the collapse, several workers could be seen approaching the area to assess the situation.

MBS investigating cause

There were no reported injuries following the incident, according to the MBS spokesperson.

They added that they have assessed the structure to be "structurally safe".

However, the integrated resort has decided to remove the entire exhaust duct as a precautionary measure.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
