S’porean woman, 56, injured in fall on Mount Kinabalu, M'sia
She sustained head injuries and had to be carried down by rescuers.
A 56-year-old Singaporean woman suffered head injuries after falling on Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia, early Monday morning (Mar. 24).
The woman was descending the mountain when she fell at about 7am near KM7.2, Malaysian media The Star reported.
She was unable to continue with her descent.
Call for assistance
Ranau Fire and Rescue Station chief Asst Fire Supt Ridwan Mohd Taib said they received a call for assistance at 7:33am.
17 Mountain Search and Rescue personnel (Mosar), as well as Sabah Parks rangers and health officials, were dispatched to the scene.
Mosar personnel and Sabah Parks rangers then provided first aid to the victim to stop her bleeding.
The rescue team transported the victim to Timphon Gate, the main gateway to Mount Kinabalu, using a stretcher.
Upon arrival at Timpson Gate, the 56-year-old woman was handed over to an ambulance for further medical treatment.
