S'pore pedestrians & road users stopped by police for disobeying traffic signals while crossing
"Rain or shine, officers will be watching," the post read.
Pedestrians and other road users were recently stopped by traffic police officers in areas such as Ang Mo Kio and Woodlands for flouting traffic rules while crossing the road.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) highlighted these enforcement actions in an advisory posted to the "Use Your RoadSense" Facebook page on Mar. 24, noting that pedestrians who disregard traffic signals put themselves and others at risk.
Pictures showed members of the public being taken to task by traffic police officers at the side of the road.

The post indicated that enforcement action will be taken against pedestrians who cross the road when the light is red.
It noted that such unsafe pedestrian behaviour could endanger drivers by forcing them into sudden stops or evasive behaviour.
"Rain or shine, officers will be watching. Pedestrians are reminded to always obey traffic signals and ensure vehicles have come to a complete stop before crossing", the post read.
According to Singapore's traffic laws, pedestrians who flout traffic signals may face a fine of up to S$100.
The post did not indicate if the road users shown were penalised for their behaviour.
Traffic police stepping up enforcement in 2025
After deaths and injuries in Singapore resulting from traffic accidents hit a five-year high in 2024, SPF said the traffic police would step up enforcement operations and penalise irresponsible road users.
There were 353 accidents involving jaywalking pedestrians in 2024, an increase of 23 per cent from 288 cases in 2023, according to a Feb. 21 SPF release.
The number of casualties and fatal accidents involving jaywalkers also increased 26 per cent and 12.5 per cent respectively.
Elderly pedestrians accounted for 38.9 per cent of the total number of fatalities involving pedestrians who jaywalked in 2024.
The "Use Your RoadSense” initiative is a road safety campaign launched by Singapore's traffic police in 2015, and provides regular advisories to the public over social media and other channels.
Of late, its Facebook page has also issued advisories depicting police enforcement action against unsecured loads on heavy vehicles, speeding and irresponsible overtaking.
