Online marketplace Carousell has announced it will suspend all BTS concert ticket listings on its platform until after the group's final Singapore show on Dec. 22, as part of efforts to protect users from potential scams.

Newly created posts may appear temporarily

According to The Straits Times, the platform confirmed in a statement on Jun. 5 that the move was made in response to an official announcement and request from the police.

However, some listings may still be visible in the interim.

Carousell noted that because moderation takes place after a listing is published, newly created posts may appear temporarily before being removed.

The K-Pop group, comprising members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, is scheduled to perform four shows at the National Stadium on Dec. 17, 19, 20 and 22 as part of their Arirang World Tour.

It will be the group's first return to Singapore since January 2019.

A Carousell spokesperson described the suspension was a "precautionary measure to help protect users on the platform," though no scams linked to the concert tickets had been detected at the time.

"We assess each situation on a case-by-case basis, taking into account relevant advisories from the authorities and user safety considerations," the spokesperson said.

The company is deploying a combination of artificial intelligence and manual moderation to identify and remove non-compliant listings.

Users who spot any Arirang World Tour ticket listings in the meantime are encouraged to flag them using the platform's report function.

Ticket sales

Tickets are priced between S$148 and S$388.

Pre-sales began on Jun. 3 for Army Membership Presale holders on Weverse, followed by a Live Nation member pre-sale on Jun. 4.

General sales opened at noon on Jun. 5 via Ticketmaster.sg, with a simultaneous Klook sale.

Ahead of ticket sales, the Singapore Police Force had reminded the public to stay vigilant against concert ticket scams, which typically emerge on messaging apps and social media platforms such as Telegram, Carousell, X (formerly Twitter), Xiaohongshu and Facebook.

This is not the first time Carousell has taken such action.

The platform imposed a similar suspension for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Singapore back in 2024.
