S'pore man, 20, rapes girls, then 13 & 14, at stairwells, gets reformative training

After getting to know two girls separately on video chat platform Omegle, a man requested their nude photos and videos, and asked them out to stairwells where he sexually assaulted them.

At the time of the offences in 2023, he was around 17, and the girls were 13 and 14.

The man, now 20, was handed eight charges in court, two of which he pleaded guilty to, Shin Min Daily News reported.

On Jun. 3, 2026, the High Court proceeded with three charges for rape of a person below 14, sexual assault involving penetration of a minor below 16, and voyeurism.

The other five were taken into consideration.

The man was ultimately sentenced to at least 12 months' detention in a reformative training centre.

From Omegle to real life

Omegle, which connected strangers online via live video chat, was shut down after 14 years in November 2023 after concerns grew about sexual and predatory behaviour on the website, especially against minors.

It was still operating when the man met the two girls.

He met the 13-year-old victim on Omegle between May and June 2023, then continued their conversation on Telegram, according to Shin Min.

Despite knowing that the girl was only 13, the man expressed interest in having a sexual relationship with her, and asked her to send him nude photos and videos of herself.

On Jun. 22, 2023, they met in person while the victim was wearing her school uniform. They went shopping and ate, and the man also bought her a bra.

Afterwards, he brought her to a flat near her house, and they started having sexual relations at a stairwell.

Following the incident, he continued to chat with the girl and ask for nudes, until her mother called the police.

Not the first time

Police investigations later revealed that the man had previously sexually assaulted another minor aged 14.

They had similarly met on Omegle in February 2023, after which he also asked the victim out and had sexual relations at a stairwell.

He continued to message her after the incident, but she stopped replying him, and later blocked him.

In the man's phone, the police also found a nude photo of a third girl who was 17 at the time the photo was taken.

In February 2023, the man and this victim slept in the same room when they went on a trip to Korea with the victim's parents.

According to the victim, the pair were very close, such that the victim was comfortable enough to change her clothes in front of him.

On one such occasion, he used his phone to secretly take photos of her naked upper body, and kept the photo to himself.
