A total of 30 motorists were caught at Woodlands Checkpoint engaging in queue cutting and other dangerous road behaviour during the Vesak Day long weekend between May 28 and Jun. 1, 2026

This was after officers from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) conducted stepped-up traffic enforcement operations to detect and deter motorists who commit traffic offences.

What happened

At departure, 30 motorists were detected committing traffic offences, such as crossing double white lines, making illegal right turns, stopping in positions likely to cause danger, obstruction or undue inconvenience, as well as queue cutting.

A total of 21 vehicles were directed to make a U-turn and re-queue.

Nine drivers of foreign-registered vehicles were subjected to entry ban into Singapore for offences including crossing double white lines, as well as queue cutting.

Out of the 30, 15 motorists were referred to the Traffic Police (TP) for further action.

ICA said it takes a very serious stance against motorists who violate traffic laws or do not comply with our officers’ instructions at the checkpoints, and thus compromise the safety of other motorists.

"We will not hesitate to take firm actions against them," ICA added.
