S'pore teen acted as 'pimp' to promote 15-year-old friend's sexual services, got S$50 per post

A teenager under the age of 18 acted as an online "pimp", promoting prostitution services for his 15-year-old female friend in Telegram chat groups.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, the teen faced three charges, and he had previously pleaded guilty to one count of theft and one count of promoting prostitution services for profit.

As he was under 18 at the time of the offences, the court issued a gag order under the Children and Young Persons Act.

The judge handed the youth offender a dispositional order of 21 months of probation with the conditions that he must remain indoors between 10pm and 7am.

The teen was also ordered to complete 90 hours of community service, and his parents must post a S$5,000 bond to ensure his good behaviour during the probation period.

The judge also ordered the teen to wear an electronic monitoring device for four months or until he enlists for military service, and to undergo a substance abuse assessment and receive treatment if necessary.

Charged his friend S$50 per Telegram group post

According to Zaobao, the 15-year-old friend of the teen approached him in May 2025.

She revealed that she was providing sexual services and asked him for help in promoting her on various chat groups to attract customers.

The teen agreed to forward the promotional messages and charged her a fee of S$50 per Telegram group post.

Between May and June 2025, the teen posted messages which said "message me for services" in three Telegram chat groups, each having around 3,000 members.

When users responded, the teen would refer the potential client to his friend's account or forward relevant content related to the sexual services offered.

The girl subsequently paid him a total of S$100 as compensation.

Father reported son to police

On Jun. 9, 2025, the teen's father filed a police report alleging that his son's Telegram account had been used by a teenage girl to advertise sexual services.

The police launched an investigation, which revealed the teen's actions and showed that the two were friends.

According to Zaobao, after the 15-year-old's phone was confiscated by the police, she borrowed his account for her own use.

She also concealed the fact that the account was used to promote prostitution.
