Man & woman confront each other with chairs at Yishun coffee shop

A man and a woman were caught on camera confronting each other with chairs at a coffee shop in Yishun.

The altercation occurred on Apr. 28 at Block 848 Yishun Street 81, Shin Min Daily News reported.

Man held chair and bowl

In a TikTok, an elderly man wearing glasses and singlet was seen holding a chair and a bowl.

A woman wearing a polka dot shirt also picked up a chair to confront the man.

Another woman dressed in yellow held a cane and pointed it towards the man’s direction.

The video then cut to a woman in blue and another in black attempting to defuse the situation.

Uttered offensive remarks

The woman who held the cane told Shin Min on Apr. 30 that the man approached her and uttered some offensive remarks while she was drinking coffee.

She was unaware of how or why she had even offended him.

The woman in the polka dot shirt responded to the man, resulting in a confrontation between the two.

Struck woman who had cane with her

During the altercation, the man allegedly brought a chair over, striking the woman who had the cane.

The woman said she relied on her cane for self-defence.

She claimed that the incident happened suddenly, and she only noticed her injuries when she got home.

The woman discovered two abrasions on her left arm and reported the matter to the police.

She said the children of the man apologised to her subsequently and told her to ignore their father.

Second attempt

The woman also shared that the next morning on Apr. 29, the man reappeared.

He allegedly attempted to attack her from behind with a chair.

Bystanders witnessed the incident and stopped him.

A man who stopped the altercation said: "I told him, 'How can a man hit a woman?' And when the uncle heard that, he put down his chair."

According to a stall owner, the man who got into the altercation was apparently known for swearing at people: "He would often come to buy breakfast and suddenly start swearing at people around him, which would cause some people to have conflicts with him. He had been beaten up before."
