Former actor Huang Yiliang is now a hawker.

And the 64-year-old is grateful for the support he has received after news broke about his new venture.

He posted photos of former showbiz friends — directors, producers and former actors Yang Libing and Lin Yisheng — dining at his hawker stall Old Fisherman at Circuit Road Hawker Centre.

He wrote on Facebook on Apr. 27: "Thank heavens for giving me face."

Idea for business came to him in prison

Huang set up Old Fisherman in February 2026.

He said he wanted to sell restaurant-quality seafood dishes at affordable prices, it was previously reported.

The idea was born while serving time in prison, he reportedly said.

Fellow inmates had shared experiences in the industry.

Huang had to ask more than 20 chefs over a decade for tips on getting his recipe right to learn how to make crab bee hoon.

He spent S$20,000 on getting the stall up and running.

Huang also operates a wet market stall selling seafood at MacPherson Market.
