A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer allegedly dozed off at the wheel of a fire engine, causing it to collide with a truck.
Muhammad Imran Norzehan, 28, was charged on May 20 for offences including causing grievous hurt while driving in a dangerous manner.
Based on charge sheets seen by Mothership, the accident left three male passengers injured.
Charge sheets did not state the extent of their injuries. Previously, the police told Mothership that four SCDF officers had been taken to hospital following the collision.
Accident
Imran had been driving an SCDF vehicle at around 1:47pm on Jan. 23, 2025, along Sungei Kadut Street 1.
But he allegedly failed to keep proper control of the vehicle, dozing off and veering to the right while at the wheel.
He subsequently struck a parked truck, that surged backwards before hitting a another vehicle, a parked prime mover.
The accident caused "grievous hurt" to the three passengers, who were SCDF officers aged 21 and 22.
He is expected to plead guilty on Jun. 29.
Placed in administrative post
Responding to Mothership's queries, an SCDF spokesperson said Imran has since been removed from frontline duties and placed in an administrative post.
"SCDF takes the safety of our personnel and members of the public seriously," the spokesperson said.
"We expect all our officers to exercise due care and adhere to high standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties," the spokesperson added.
"SCDF is unable to comment further as court proceedings are ongoing."
