A Vietnamese beauty influencer with over 11 million TikTok followers has revealed she was diagnosed with blood cancer after years of unhealthy lifestyle habits, including staying awake until dawn, barely drinking water and drinking multiple cups of bubble tea daily.
According to Daily Star, 23-year-old An Thy, known for her makeup transformation videos, announced her diagnosis in an emotional video posted on her TikTok account.
Addressing her followers, An said she might not be able to post regularly for a while. She also thanked fans for their support, saying she would not be where she is today without them.
An, who is based in Ho Chi Minh City, said she had developed several unhealthy habits during her three years as a content creator.
She said: “I thought, as I don't smoke or drink alcohol, that my body would be fine.”
“I would stay up until dawn, sleep through the day, and practically never drink water.”
Says she drank around multiple cups of bubble tea a day
An claimed in the video that she rarely drank water and instead consumed five cups of bubble tea a day, along with matcha lattes and other sugary drinks.
According to Daily Star, the influencer reportedly sought medical attention after experiencing severe illness and prolonged exhaustion.
Doctors at the Blood Transfusion and Haematology Hospital later diagnosed her with leukaemia.
No further details about the specific type or stage of her illness have been disclosed.
Says she hopes young people take health more seriously
According to Daily Star, An said she hoped sharing her experience would encourage young people to pay more attention to their health.
An, who has gone for 15 cosmetic procedures like cheekbone shaving and nose jobs, urged her young followers not to take their health for granted.
The video has reportedly amassed over 30 million views on TikTok and drew large numbers of supportive comments online.
