M'sian man, 41, killed in motorcycle collision riding home from S'pore, leaves behind wife & 2 kids

A Malaysian man who worked as a car parts salesman in Singapore was killed in a motorcycle collision in Johor Bahru on May 26, while riding home from Singapore.

The victim, Qiu Guohui, 41, died at the scene. According to China Press, the accident happened at around 3:40pm along a stretch of road near the Second Link bridge.

How the accident happened

According to China Press, Qiu was riding in the left lane when he collided with a car parked by the roadside.

Qiu was flung into the rightmost lane, where an oncoming SUV could not brake in time and ran over him.

He lay motionless on the ground.

"A young man who was always so willing to help"

According to Sin Chew Daily, citing Shin Min,  Lim Soon Hock, a Singapore philanthropist who had known Qiu for over 20 years, said Qiu worked as a car parts salesman in Singapore and would often drop by his motorcycle accessories shop, which was how the two became friends.

Lim said he was devastated by the news, describing Qiu as a kind and helpful young man who had left too soon.

Lim added that Qiu was outgoing and warm, and would often come to the shop to buy things on behalf of his friends back in Malaysia.

Wife's tribute

After the accident, Qiu’s wife posted a photo on Facebook showing the two of them together with their two children, per Sin Chew.

She wrote:

"In these 13 years together, we've had our arguments and our cold wars, but you were always the first to back down. You were kind and gentle, a loving father and a responsible man. You don't have to worry about me and the kids. We'll be okay."
