Man, 26 & woman, 24, both M'sians, arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint for attempting to smuggle K-pods, 12,200 vapes & components seized

A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both Malaysians, were arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint on May 6 for attempting to smuggle vaporisers and related components into Singapore.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) posted about the incident on Facebook on May 19.
The pair were entering Singapore via a Malaysia-registered car.
The man was the driver, while the woman was the passenger.
White plastic bags hidden in spare tyre compartment
ICA officers directed the car for enhanced checks and found several white plastic bags hidden in the spare tyre compartment.
Each bag contained vaporisers and related components.
Upon further inspection, more than 12,200 vaporisers and related components were seized.
This is the largest haul of etomidate vaporiser pods illegally imported into Singapore to date.

The case was referred to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for further investigation.
HSA charged the pair in court on May 8 for the alleged importation of etomidate vaporiser pods under the Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act 1993 (TVCA).
This is the first importation case charged under the TVCA.
