Chen Xifei, 37, passed away on May 2, 2026.
She was a popular emcee from Sichuan province with a career that lasted over 15 years, and had 80,000 followers on her social media.
She had hosted over 3,000 weddings and commercial events.
Xifei was diagnosed with cervical cancer and bone cancer in 2016. She began chemotherapy in 2018. In 2024, she suffered from kidney failure and began dialysis treatment.
Despite all these she continued hosting events, including a Lantern Festival in late-2024.
In fact, even as she was struggling with all these health issues, Xifei took it upon herself to host her best friend's wedding.
Her friend presented her with her bouquet, saying with tears in her eyes, "I hope you will always be happy and stay with me for the rest of your life."
According to Sohu, a Chinese media outlet, Xifei said that in 2019, doctors determined she only had three to six months to live.
In June 2025, Xifei said in a video that she wanted a "peaceful life", she said she wanted that peace "even if it's only for five years", wondering if that was "still possible?"
Two months later, she said that she didn't want to give up, but wondered what she could do "if God doesn't give me a way to live?"
A friend posted a tribute after she passed, calling her a person who loved life.
"After she got sick and was unable to take care of herself, she moved to her hometown to live with her family... and she still made it very beautiful, planting a lot of flowers and inviting friends to come and play."
