S'pore man, 53, allegedly vandalised police vehicle with a key
He is believed to have used his key to scratch the doors of the police vehicle.
A 53-year-old man will be charged by the police for his suspected involvement in vandalising a police vehicle at Block 83 Redhill Close.
At about 7:40pm on Apr. 2, the police received a report from a member of the public that a man had allegedly used an object to scratch a police vehicle that was parked there.
By the time the police arrived at the scene, the man had already left, the police said in a news release.
Through ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from the Clementi Police Division identified and arrested the 53-year-old man on Apr. 4.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he had come across the parked police vehicle and used his key to scratch its doors.
He will be charged in court on Apr. 6 with the offence of vandalism.
If convicted, he may be fined up to S$2,000, or be jailed for up to three years.
He may also be liable to caning between three to eight strokes.
The police reminded that they have zero tolerance towards such acts of vandalism, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
