Kayakers see wild boar swimming in waters off Pasir Ris Park, thought it was a crocodile at first
Just chilling.
What began as a potential crocodile sighting in the waters off Pasir Ris Park turned out to be an encounter involving a wild boar taking a swim in the sea instead.
A group of kayakers in Singapore were met with the surprising sight in broad daylight, according to a video shared by @singaporekayakers on TikTok.
"Crocodile" spotted in open water
In the video, a dark object, which turned out to be animal, could be seen swimming in open water.
Members of the kayaking group initially thought it might be a crocodile and alerted a support boat to check it out.
"It didn't look like a floating log," the poster added in the video.

As a precaution, they were even preparing to notify the authorities and cease activities immediately.
Wild boar taking a dip
After a few moments of closer observation, the figure that appeared to look like a crocodile turned out to be a wild boar calmly swimming in the sea, leaving the group both surprised and amused.

The video has since garnered around 100,000 views, with many commenters joking about the encounter.
Many were surprised and impressed by the swimming abilities of the wild boar.
Others also reminded the public not to disturb wildlife and to give animals space in their natural habitat.
Not advisable to go near the boar
It is not recommended to approach wildlife.
While wild boars appear shy, they are still wild animals and are unpredictable in behaviour, which could pose a risk to public safety, according to NParks.
Like many other wild animals, wild boars will only attack if they are cornered or if they feel threatened, and female wild boars can be very protective of their young and can be easily provoked.
