An act of kindness in Singapore has sparked online chatter after a man was seen taking all the snacks left outside a ground floor Housing and Development Board (HDB) home meant as small treats for delivery workers.

In a TikTok posted on Apr. 1, user @twomomssg said they usually "leave out" snacks along the common walkway outside the home for delivery workers as a way to support them.

However, on this occasion, the man was observed taking all the available food.

Initially took one, later emptied box of snacks

The man's actions were captured on the surveillance camera outside the unit and shared online.

The caption read: "Wondering why this uncle took all the snacks. If he's struggling to put food on the table we can all help."

In the video, the man could be seen walking past the ground-floor unit while pulling a blue, foldable shopping trolley.

After glancing at a box placed on a table, he took a snack.

He walked away, before doubling back to the table.

He then reached into the box and grabbed more snacks and put them into his trolley.

The man then left.

"Not sure why this uncle decided to take everything. Not that it's anything wrong with that but just wondering why," the user wrote in the video.

Other commenters said the man might be facing personal or financial difficulties, and also encouraged the homeowner to empathise.

Some also pointed out that the homeowner should put up clear signs indicating that the snacks were only meant for delivery workers.
