Thai man, 49, arrested for allegedly cooking dog after it was hit by car
He claimed to have eaten dog meat before and liked the taste.
A 49-year-old Thai man was caught preparing a dog carcass for cooking and was subsequently arrested by the police.
Thai police were alerted to the incident after a Facebook user, Ploy Manita, 24, posted images of a man seated in front of a carcass and of another man presumably holding a bag of meat.
According to Khaosod English, she tagged local authorities and asked for advice on how to press charges.
She noted that the incident violated Thai animal welfare laws.
Her caption read: "Is it really necessary to go this far for hunger?"

Police confronted Khokpho, and he admitted that it was dog meat, reported Khaosod.
He claimed that the dog had been hit by a car and that the dog's owner had asked him to bury it in exchange for a bottle of white liquor.
Instead, Khokpho brought the dog's carcass home to cook it.

Likes taste of dog meat
Khokpho told police that he had allegedly eaten dog meat before and liked the taste, reported Khaosod.
He said he knew it was illegal and insisted that he did not kill the animal himself.
According to Khaosod, Manita said that the dog might have had an owner.
"If you have nothing to eat, go work or buy food like everyone else. There’s plenty of pork, fish, and chicken. Leave the dogs alone."
She claimed that Khokpho was unemployed and a drinker and drug user.
She alleged that last year, another dog had suspiciously disappeared.
Urine test
Police seized the cooked dog meat and conducted a urine test on Khokpho, reported Khaosod.
He tested positive for methamphetamine and admitted to using meth the day prior.
Thai police charged him with use and possession of drugs, and animal cruelty.
Khokpho remains in police custody awaiting legal proceedings.
